Julia Louis-Dreyfus—who holds the rare distinction of having won Emmys for her work on three different series—recently told Indiewire that her latest show Veep has no grand plan to wrap up anytime soon. Louis-Dreyfus has had memorable turns on Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep, and she clearly has no plans to give up her current job.
She said that, regarding Veep:
There's no exit strategy right now. We're still very much in the entrance strategy mode, and really just focusing on what season four is going to be and what those stories are going to be. I love making the show so much, and I love playing this character so much, and I love working with [creator/showrunner] Armando Iannucci and all our fine writers on the show so much that I don't have any interest in, you know, departing or leaving that situation anytime soon. Really. I mean, let's face it. It's kind of a dream gig from my point of view.
It certainly makes plenty of sense for her to stay on. The show has been a huge success, and Louis-Dreyfus herself has twice won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
It has also allowed her to begin to branch out into film as well. She had a very well-received turn in last year’s Enough Said opposite the late James Gandolfini, earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy).
Her latest endeavor, a short film entitled Picture Paris, was released on iTunes today. The movie debuted at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and appeared at numerous other film festivals as well. You can check out the preview here:
