Sometimes, being a creep on the subway pays off.
While we already knew that the University of Iowa wasn’t interested in Girls, that did not necessarily mean that Girls was not still interested in Iowa. Director Jesse Peretz has already confirmed they would shoot there anyway, but it was unclear if that was meant only for a scene or two, or if there was a bigger plot arc in play.
It appears we now have our answer.
A sneaky subway rider managed to steal a peak at casting director Tony Behringer’s copy of a script for next season, which Behringer happened to be reading while sitting on the train. Per the source, “in one of the scenes, Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) are FaceTiming with Hannah (Lena Dunham), and they’re in New York while she’s living in Iowa City.”
That would seem to confirm that Hannah does indeed decide to leave Adam (Adam Driver) and Brooklyn behind in favor of the cornfields of the Midwest. We’re willing to bet some distance-related issues will ensue.
