Separate George Washington Bridge Suicide Attempts Leave One Presumed Dead, One Injured

A man who jumped off the bridge yesterday evening is presumed dead, while a woman who was stopped from jumping was hospitalized.

Two separate suicide attempts reportedly occurred within minutes of each other on the George Washington Bridge yesterday evening, leaving a man presumed dead and a woman injured

According to the New York Daily News, a 29-year-old man jumped from the south walkway on the bridge's New Jersey side around 7 p.m. yesterday. Just moments later, a 25-year-old woman climbed over the railing and was preparing to jump, but drivers rushed from their vehicles and stopped her. 

The Daily News adds that the woman was hospitalized, but also faces drug possession charges because police discovered heroin on her.
