Shelves at Bronx dollar store collapsed yesterday afternoon, injuring eight people after heavy cans and more came falling down on top of them.

According to ABC New York, the crash produced a "thunderous roar," and one witness said fall resembled "a domino effect." The collapse left at least two children buried under the wreckage, and Lucy Triado told NBC New York that she could hear "[a woman] creaming because her kids were under that mess."

Gothamist adds that the cause of the collapse remains unclear, but one obvious theory is that the shelves were simply carrying too much. Furthermore, the FDNY says there is no structural damage to the building.
