Fearing that her home had been broken into, a Massachusetts woman called police over the weekend. The intruder turned out to be a duck.

According to the Boston Globe, the woman was woken in the middle of the night on Saturday by "loud, banging noises" coming from downstairs in her North Reading, Mass. home. Terrified, she called police, who searched her home, finding a female duck covered in soot. They ultimately deduced that duck flew through the chimney, then into the ceiling in a panic, hence the soot and "loud, banging noises."

The duck was briefly taken into custody, then released at Swan Pond.
