According to Variety, a sequel to Ang Lee’s martial arts classic, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, will begin filming this year in New Zealand and China. Titled The Green Destiny, the movie will act as a prequel to the original, and it will star Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh, who is returning from the cast of the first movie.
While Ang Lee won’t be returning to direct, the good news is that Yuen Woo-ping will be at the helm of The Green Destiny. That’s important because Woo-ping was the fight choreographer on the original, so there will be consistency in one of the film’s most important areas. The Green Destiny will again draw upon inspiration from the same book series that Crouching Tiger was based on.
