Chris Messina isn't just a hot doctor on The Mindy Project. He's been in the biz for fifteen years and just debuted his first film as a director at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday. Messina says the best bit of directing advice he got was from no other than Woody Allen. Allen won the Oscar for Best Director for Annie Hall in 1977.
"Woody Allen said to Rebecca Hall once in a scene, ‘Do it once happy, do it sad, and do it indifferent, because I don't know where I'm going to be when I'm editing this.' I think options are your best friend when editing," Messina told The Wrap.
He worked with Allen on 2008's Vicky Christina Barcelona. His movie Alex of Venice stars Messina himself and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
