Twitter Removed Its #Music Service From the App Store, Is Shutting It Down Next Month

That didn't last long.

Twitter announced plans to shut down its flailing #Music app last year, but the fat lady has finally sung and the music recommendation service has been removed from the App Store. For those few people who already have it installed, #Music will stop working on April 18.

Despite being launched to much fanfare, the service failed to grow or sustain its userbase. Turns out #Music's premise—offering up music recommendations based on what friends are listening to—wasn't as appealing as it initially seemed.

Later this afternoon, we will be removing Twitter #music from the App Store. If you have the app, it will continue to work until April 18.
