Last October, Marcia Wallace, the voice of Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons, passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. The only silver lining for fans of her work was that she had already recorded a few more episodes for the latest season of The Simpsons, so her character would still live on for a few more months. Unfortunately, last night’s episode marked the last of the work Wallace had done for the show.

At the very end of the episode, the show paid tribute to Wallace with a touching scene between her and Edna’s new husband, Ned Flanders. For longtime fans of the show, this should give you a sense of closure that is rare for an animated TV series like this.
