A video shot from the helmet-cam of a US Marine shows the horrifying rare footage of what it's like to step on an IED—and survive.

An IED is a type of homemade bomb that is responsible for more than half of military deaths during the US led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the video, uploaded in 2012 by Andrew Juraska (it's unclear whether this is his footage), shows the marine walking through a path beside a building, when an explosion goes off and the dirt on the ground shoots up into the air, engulfing him in a cloud of debris. As his fellow marines rush over and check on his condition, the marine seems disoriented, but alive.
