A man who reportedly told his victim he was the "black Hitler" has been arrested for torturing his grandson's nanny for three days.

The New York Post reports that Sherman Gamble, 54, allegedly held the 22-year-old inside of his East Side apartment from Saturday night until Tuesday evening, when the terrified woman somehow convinced him to let her go to the bank. The woman ran straight to the 13th Precinct, telling police that Gamble had held her captive and tormented her.

Gamble, owner of Cut Rate Construction, reportedly "beat [the victim] with a fist, pulled her hair out and beat her with a cellphone on the head." He also allegedly choked her until she passed out, then "rolled up a newspaper and shoved it down her throat" while screaming "'I am going to kill you. You don’t know who I am. I am the black Hitler.'"

The woman was taken to Beth Israel Hospital with swelling and bruising all over her body. Gamble was arraigned at Manhattan Criminal Court this morning after being charged with kidnapping, assault, attempted murder and strangulation. He's currently being held on $80,000 bail.

The Post notes that he was arrested in 2003 for allegedly assaulting one of his five children, and in 1998 for an incident involving a prostitute. Gamble has at least three more arrests, but they've all been sealed.
