Sharknado should've come and gone, realistically. It was a terrible movie in every single possible way, the script made no sense, a pile of dirty clothes has more life to it than any of the acting did, and the special effects don't even try to convince you that they could possibly be real.
Against all odds (probably because the plot involved GIANT FLYING SHARKS DESTROYING LA) it somehow became a campy, cult favorite. Sure, it's no Thankskilling, Troll 2 or The Room, but Sharknado certainly is a gem and has its own healthy fanbase.
So, of course, it got a sequel.
Sharknado's New York City-set sequel, Sharknado 2: The Second One, will air July 30 on Syfy. Before you spend an hour and a half live tweeting and laughing at this movie this summer, check out the poster which may be and indicator that this could be even worse than the original because SHARK HAPPENS!
Or it could be so much better. So, so much better.
