In Under the Skin, otherwise known as the movie in which Scarlett Johansson plays a lusty, man-hunting/eating alien, there are a lot of hitchhikers. Makes sense, considering all of the humans that she kidnaps to take back to her man-eating alien buddies are loner types who she manages to seduce because, hey, who wouldn't be intrigued by a hot lady who looks like Scarlett Johansson trying to pick you up in her van? No, the weirdest part of this whole scenario actually has nothing to do with the plot—instead with the talent portraying those aformentioned loners. Though it seems like an obvious assumption that the hitchhikers we see in the film are actors, it turns out that may not be the case: Turns out, director Jonathan Glazer, (BirthSexy Beast) shot the movie guerrilla style, so the hitchhikers are real people, and the acts are improvised.

According to The Guardian:

None

The Daily Mail tracked down one of the lucky guys Johansson scooped up, Kevin McAliden, a single father of two:

“What man wouldn’t think, ‘Wow,’ when a good-looking woman has just pulled up in a van. [...] She said: ‘Are you single? What are you doing tonight?’ I thought, ‘Yes! This is unbelievable!’ I’d been having quite a tough time in my personal life, so this was like a lucky break. I should have known it was too good to be true.”

McAldiden adds that the actress said she was Laura from London and in Glasgow collecting furniture for the family furniture business.

Too good to be true, yes, but we can all dream.

Under The Skin is out now in the U.K. and hits theaters April 4 in the U.S.
