Police Solve Two-Year-Old Mystery of Severed Head, Body Parts Found Near Hollywood Sign

Police in California are convinced they have solved the murder of a man whose severed head and other body parts were discovered hear the Hollywood sign in early 2012.

CNN reports that 38-year-old Gabriel Campos-Martinez has been charged with murdering 66-year-old Hervey Medellin in January 2012. A woman discovered Medellin's body parts as she was walking her dog in Griffith Park. Police dogs brought in to find additional body parts discovered hands and feet near Brad Pitt's home.

According to CNN, authorities say Campos-Martinez killed Medellin—who he reportedly lived with for roughly six months—around Dec. 27, 2011; officials determined that asphyxiation was Medellin's cause of death. 

Campos-Martinez was arrested in San Antonio on Sunday and charged with with murder on Monday. He's currently being held on $1 million bail while awaiting extradition.
