A Brooklyn cop is suing her boss in what her attorney calls "the worst example of sexual harassment" she's seen during her times as an attorney.
The New York Daily News reports that 29-year-old Officer Ann Cardenas claims she was harassed by her boss, 41-year-old Sgt. David John, for over a year during her time at Bushwick's 83rd Precinct. Cardenas accused John of grinding against her body while making grunting noises, showing her images of his penis in front of co-workers and calling her his "work p****."
The EEOC complaint filed in January described further physical harassment that Cardenas allegedly experienced at John's hands:
In the summer of 2013 while I was in the precinct sitting on the couch in the conditions unit room, Sgt. John grabbed me, threw me down and held me down while trying to kiss me. He then climbed on top of me and would not let me up.
The Daily News adds that John, a 20-year veteran of the force, has filed for retirement. His departure is still pending, and a police spokesman noted that he had been placed on a special assignment on Feb. 26.
Though John declined comment on the matter, attorney Andrew Quinn of the Sergeants Benevolent Association said Cardenas' story is full of holes, revealing that "[they] will produce that evidence at the appropriate time and to the appropriate authorities."
