This New Trailer for "The Purge: Anarchy" Brings the Chaos

Check out what's in store for the highly-anticipated sequel.

No one expected much from The Purge when it was released last year, but on a measly $3 million budget, the film went on to gross more than $80 million at the box office. That’s an unprecedented return on a studio’s investment, so you can’t blame Universal for immediately greenlighting a sequel, The Purge: Anarchy.

This installment follows the same basic premise as the first, with society allowing all crimes to be legal for 12 hours in an attempt thin out criminal behavior the rest of the year. In Anarchy, Frank Grillo plays Shane, a man looking to take revenge on these hardened criminals on the most dangerous night of the year. The scope and plot of this Purge have been expanded upon greatly here, and it shows with better production values and a more engaging backstory.

Fortunately, with a similar budget to the first one, Anarchy looks to be a surefire success when it hits theaters on July 18.
