Emmy-award winning comedian John Oliver is leaving his post as a correspondent on the "The Daily Show," where he's been working alongside host Jon Stewart since 2006 to star in his own HBO series, "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver."

HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo sought after Oliver after watching him sit in for Jon Stewart for two months over the summer.

"I'm incredibly excited to be joining HBO, especially as I presume this means I get free HBO now," Oliver told Entertainment Weekly. "I want to thank Comedy Central, and everyone at The Daily Show for the best seven and a half years of my life. But most of all, I'd like to thank Jon Stewart. He taught me everything I know. In fact, if I fail in the future, it's entirely his fault."

The show will premiere April 27th and air weekly on Sunday nights at 11 pm.
