Actor James Rebhorn, who played the role of Frank Mathison on the Showtime drama, Homeland, has passed away. According to The Hollywood ReporterRebhorn died in his home on Friday.

Throughout his career Rebhorn secured roles in many memorable television in film projects. He played school headmaster Mr. Trask in Scent of a Woman, an expert witness in My Cousin Vinny, and Secretary of Defense Albert Nimzicki in Independence Day.

Rebhorn was also a mainstay of the Roundabout Theatre Company. His most recentrole was as a father stricken with Alzheimer's in Too Much, Too Much, Too Many, which opened in November at the Black Box Theatre in New York.

Rebhorn was 65.
