Franchises don’t end in Hollywood anymore; they simply go into hibernation. Take the Barbershop series for example. After two installments and one spinoff, it was presumed that the franchise was over with. Not so, apparently, because according to Deadline, MGM is in negotiations with Ice Cube to return for a third installment.

The site is reporting that the deal is in the “mid-seven-figure” range, and his involvement will be the catalyst for the whole project. The studio is currently talking to writers about joining the project, and the hope is that Cedric the Entertainer will also be on board. Ice Cube is riding high off the monumental success of Ride Along, so it’s no surprise that MGM is willing to break the bank for him to come back.

What do you think about a return to Barbershop? Let us know in the comment section below.
