Brian Seely, an engineer and former Marine, devised a way to record calls made to the Secret Service and the FBI by setting up fake listings for the agencies on Google Maps.

By setting up a fradulent listing, along with a phony phone number, Seely toyed with the fact that people take for granted the information they get on Google. So when someone using Google Maps tried to find the real FBI, some of them came across Seely's listing for the fake FBI, and took it for the real thing, because, you know, Google. So the unsuspecting person would call the number Seely set up, which he programmed to be forwarded to the real FBI—except from that point, the record button was on, capturing everything the two parties were saying.

Google is currently working on patching things up.
