Electronic Arts' Origin digital game delivery service is launching a new program that takes a note from Xbox's Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus by giving away free games and expansions online. First up, Dead Space, the survival horror game that saved a genre, is now free on PC.

The stand-out difference between Origin's free games is that they truly are just that, free with no subscription required. All that is necessary is an Origin account and chances are if you've played any of Electronic Arts' games you already have one. Jump over here and grab your free copy of Dead Space while it lasts. While the games will be free, you can only download them for a limited time. "once you've claimed your game, it's yours to keep,” says a statement from Origin. Dead Space is free to download until May 8.
