Dinner Break Turns Into Shooting for Bronx Officers

A cop enjoying his dinner break in the Bronx wound up shooting a gunman who threatened three men, authorities say. 

The New York Daily News reports that the officer, a member of the 48th Precinct Anti-Crime squad, was eating at Sake ll in Fordham with two colleagues on Saturday evening when they spotted 22-year-old Jayson Ramos threatening the three men with a 9mm Glock.

When police ordered Ramos to drop the weapon, he attempted to flee. The offier opened fire, striking Ramos in the leg. Ramos ran two more blocks, bullet wound and all, until officers caught up and arrested him. He was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use and reckless endangerment. 

He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment, where he was listed as being in stable condition.
