In an effort to be responsible, Colorado has unveiled three commercials that warn against the dangers of driving while high to accompany the legalization of recreational marijuana in the state. The ads, curated by the state Department of Transportation, will start airing on Monday and they all contain the same tag: "Drive High, Get A DUI."
The state has established that anyone with at least five nanograms of THC in their bloodstream while behind the wheel of a car can receive a DUI. This law has been contested by marijuana advocates who claim there is no evidence proving that this very specific amount of marijuana will render someone impaired.
Each of the ads relays the common theme that if you're too high to perform simple tasks, you definitely shouldn't be driving.
