A Colorado school banned a girl who shaved her head to support a friend with cancer, saying it violated the dress code.

According to Fox News, a 9-year-old from Grand Junction, Colo.'s Caprock Academy was told she wasn't allowed to return to school without a wig or until her hair grew back. The student, Kamryn, shaved her head in a touching move to show solidarity with her 11-year-old friend Delaney, who just started chemotherapy for neuroblastoma

Kamryn told 9News that "it felt like the right thing to do." Caprock Academy board of directors president and chair Catherine Norton Breman tried to explain the controversial rule to 9News. "[The dress code] was created to promote safety, uniformity, and a non-distracting environment for the school's students. Under this policy, shaved heads are not permitted."

Fox News adds that Kamryn had been invited back to school as of today, and her mother said that the board of directors will meet tonight to review their policy. It's due for a few adjustments.
