A lawyer fell from the 12th floor of a Manhattan building to his death this morning, authorities say.

The New York Post reports that a 44-year-old man fell onto scaffolding outside of the building, which is close to City Hall, sometime this morning. Police were called just before 7:30 a.m., and emergency responders discovered the man, who was in cardiac arrest.

His identity has yet to be released, but we will update this story here as it develops.

UPDATE: According to Gothamist, the man has been identified as Leonard Morton. The Upper West Side resident ran his own practice out of the building while also serving as an adjunct professor at Hunter College. Police still have yet to establish a specific cause of death.
