This Apple Ad on the New York Times Website Had the Worst Possible Timing, Ever

Sometimes things just line-up in all the wrong places. 

Earlier today, an Apple ad for the iPad Air, which featured a scuba diver underneath the ocean, ran right atop the story of the Malaysian Prime Minister announcing that Flight MH370 had been lost at sea. Of course, no one particular was at fault, but the timing led to an unfortunate image for some readers.

"[It was] an unfortunate coincidence that this particular creative ran adjacent to that particular article," said the NYT told Ad Age. "The ad was taken down by mutual agreement and we are still determining a resolution regarding placing the ad again."
