Until last night, I had never seen an episode of Pretty Little Liars. But, as someone who writes about television—hell, even just as someone who has a Twitter handle—PLL is a tough show to ignore. At a certain point last night, pretty much every trending topic was Pretty Little Liars related. This show has staked out the spot once held by Vampire Diaries, and before that The O.C., and before that Dawson’s Creek as that teen craze that has crossed over in full-blown all-ages guilty pleasure. I decided it was time to see what all the fuss was about.

Last night marked the end of season four, and I probably couldn't have picked a worse episode to jump in on. The episode was basically a clip show explaining every secret of the series except for the one that loyal viewers actually care about. Identities were mistaken; double-crosses were further complicated; statutory rape was glorified. All in all, I'm told this was your standard crazy PLL season finale.

As is usually the case, Teen Twitter is still picking up the pieces. This time, I joined them.  I am A Guy Who’s Never Watched Pretty Little Liars Trying to Make Sense of the Pretty Little Liars Finale.
