The Cast of "300: Rise of an Empire" Talk the Sequel's Over-the-Top Brutality and Ab Overload

Get ready for some visually stunning carnage.

When Zack Snyder's 300 first hit theatres back in 2006, audiences were wowed by the highly stylized graphic violence and the utter madness that King Leonidas and his 300 brave Spartans exhibited. The film was a monumental achievement, claiming a place in pop culture history and inspiring countless copycats. Now, eight years later, director Noam Murro is bringing the carnage back in the form of a sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire.

Straying slightly from the original's plot, this follow-up features a new set of faces, along with some familiar ones, as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) goes up against the Persian naval fleet, led by fearless commander Artemisia (Eva Green). It's all-out sea-based warfare in this over-the-top sequel, and it's every bit as gratifying as its predecessor.

Last weekend, our friends at We Got This Covered sat down with the cast. Among other things, they discussed what it was like working on such a testosterone-heavy film, the sheer amount of abs on set, and their intense training.

Check the video out above and be sure to catch 300: Rise of an Empire, in theaters today.
