"300: Rise of an Empire" conquered the number one spot at this weekend's box office pulling in $45 million in ticket sales. The sequel to the first 300 film that came out in 2006 tells the tale of an alliance of Greek city-states that wage war on the seas against the Persians.

The animated film "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" took second place with $32.5 million and last week's number one contender, "Non-Stop," was left in third with $32.5 million.
