Sony announced on Monday that the PlayStation 4 will be receiving firmware update 1.60 with support for 7.1 surround sound.

The update will also allow for compatibility with Sony's existing Pulse headsets.

In addition, Sony announced a new headset, the Gold Wireless Headset (which, from the picture, doesn't look particularly gold), which will release this month for $99.

An app on the PlayStation Store that works with the headphones will let players download audio settings that are specific to each game. Infamous: Second Son will be among the first to take advantage of this feature, which will  also work with Sony's Pulse headsets.

The headset will work wirelessly with the PS4, PS3 and PC, but also includes a 3.5mm cable to work with other devices. Sony claims that the headset's battery lasts eight hours.
