After years of false starts, rumors, and disappointment, AMC is finally putting a Preacher TV drama into production, according to Entertainment Weekly. The site is reporting that Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) will executive produce the show, along with showrunners Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who will also write the series’ pilot episode. Check out AMC’s official description of the show:

None

Preacher is based on the DC/Vertigo comic of the same name, which was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon. Ennis released an official statement proclaiming his support for the project:

None

While there is legitimate talent attached to the show, some fans have voiced concerns over the show’s content. The Preacher comic series was filled with pervasive violence, sex, and blasphemy, which doesn’t always translate to the small screen. However, AMC has already pulled off gore and heavy themes in The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad in recent years. This is a network that takes risks and doesn’t compromise, so there is room for hope with Rogen and Goldberg on Preacher.
