The long road to get Sony’s Uncharted to the big screen took another turn today as Deadline is reporting that Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is currently in negotiations with the studio to direct the video game adaptation. It’s not certain whether or not David Guggenheim’s latest draft of the script is still the basis of the movie, but the site claims the studio was very high on that version of the story.

For those who don’t play video games, Uncharted follows an adventurer named Nathan Drake, a descendant of Sir Francis Drake, as he searches for the lost treasure of El Dorado. The movie was originally going to be directed by David O. Russell, but those plans fell through after he instead went to work on American Hustle.

Gordon may be best known for comedies, but he does have a history with video games as the director of the cult hit arcade documentary The King of Kong. Uncharted has been a priority for Sony over the last few years, so the choice to enter negotiations with Gordon wasn’t taken lightly. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
