Rocket Raccoon Gets His Own Solo Comic From Marvel This July

If you were to tell the average comic book fan three years ago that Rocket Raccoon would soon be one of the most popular heroes at Marvel, their response would likely be a befuddled, “Who?” However, with a Guardians of the Galaxy film on its way, Rocket is ready to break into the mainstream in a big way. And with that type of attention, a new comic book series is inevitable.

Today, MTVbroke the news that Marvel will debut a Rocket Raccoon solo title this July by writer and artist Skottie Young. Young is the man behind Marvel’s brilliant Oz series, which retold L. Frank Baum’s classics for younger generation. Really, it was just brilliant stuff with trailblazing art, and it makes perfect sense that Young would move to this property. Here is what Young told the site about his take on Rocket:

Rocket Raccoon will hit shelves this July, while Guardians of the Galaxy will be in theaters on August 1.
