Officials say the driver of an MTA bus was killed and four other people were injured after the vehicles collided in the West Village this morning.

According to NBC New York, the FDNY said the collision happened around 6 a.m.; preliminary investigation suggests that the truck hit the M14 bus, causing both vehicles to strike scaffolding at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and West 14th Street.

Tragically, the NYPD has confirmed that the driver was killed. NBC New York reports that two people were transported to Beth Israel Hospital, while two more sustained minor injuries. In addition, the New York Daily News claims the truck was stolen, and that the driver is in custody.
