NYC Taxi Driver Smashes Ice Over Man's Head During Argument

This confrontation could've been avoided.

It's been nearly 40 years since Martin Scorsese told the story of an unhinged taxi driver in New York City, but this is extreme on another level.

According to DNAinfo, a taxi driver smashed a block of ice over a man's head as the two engaged in a heated argument over payment in Greenwich Village on Feb. 19. Driss Qorra, 49, was reportedly incensed because the 43-year-old man attempted to open his vehicle's door as he was swiping his credit card, allegedly prompting Qorra to tell the man "You better f****** pay me!"

He confronted Qorra after walking his daughter to Little Red School House which was in the immediate area, and claims the driver hit him in the back of the head with a block of ice as he turned his back.

When he turned around, Qorra allegedly struck him with another block of ice, this time in the face. He was treated for minor injuries at Beth Israel Hospital, while Qorra was arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
