In the battle for Internet dominance, Netflix and YouTube are at the top.

A new report by Internet monitoring firm Sandvine shows that the two companies take up about 50-percent of America's downstream Internet traffic, with Netflix grabbing 31.6-percent of the share, and YouTube about 18.7-percent. BitTorrent came in at 4-percent, falling from the 31-percent hold it had half a decade ago. Facebook, with more than a billion users, takes up 1.3-percent. Of course, Netflix and YouTube rely on video, so that's heavier media that's being consumed, more than when people post status updates. Yet, that's bad news for Hulu, a Netflix competitor, which only grabbed 1.2-percent of downstream traffic. Ouch.
