We've all been there: you put on an episode of House of Cards on Netflix, get comfortable in bed, and while Frank is getting another steak at Freddie's, you slowly drift away into dreamland, only to wake up five episodes later with no idea what's going on.

Well, Netflix engineers pieced together a solution during the company's annual Hack Day: by using FitBit's sleep tracking function, the engineers were able to devise a method that would allow Netflix to automatically pause itself when FitBit determined that a user had fallen asleep. Though the concept is only experimental and the company doesn't have plans to market this function—it could make an appearance one day. And why not? Once smartwatches become widely accepted, with the Samsung Gear Fit and Pebble clearing the way, it's plausible that this could have mainstream appeal for owners.
