Big news for the long-awaited Max Steel reboot film franchise: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project has finally cast its two leads, newcomers Ben Winchell and Ana Villafañe.

Winchell, who is best known for his roles in Disney's A.N.T. Farm, will portray the main role of Max McGrath, "a teenager with special turbo-energy powers who, together with alien companion Steel, becomes the superhero Max Steel." Villafañe, who is best known for roles in Los Americans and Hiding, will portray Max's love interest, named Sydney Gardner.

Max Steel is based off of the Mattel toy franchise, which has already spawned two animated television shows. This film reboot was initially set to star Taylor Lautner in the titular role back in 2009, but he dropped out in favor of another project and Max Steel was shelved. Back in August 2013, it was announced that the reboot was back on, with Thor: The Dark World writer and Marvel veteran Christopher Yost attached to pen the script and Stewart Hendler set to direct.

No word yet on when production is set to begin.
