If you have kids who have Facebook, go ahead and delete their accounts, now.
Patrick Snay, 69, the former headmaster at Gulliver Preparatory School in Florida, won a $80,000 settlement against the school after he claimed they discriminated against his age when they fired him. Part of the settlement included that, while Gulliver agreed to pay Snay $80,000, he had to keep the “terms and existence” of the agreement private, between he and his wife. Not hard, right?
Yet, he told his daughter, which was his first and last mistake. “We knew what the restrictions were, yet we needed to tell her something,” he said.
His daughter, Dana, who had recently graduated from the school, then posted this status update on her Facebook page, which reached her 1,200 Facebook friends, and eventually, Gulliver's attorneys:
Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver. Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT.
And with that, the terms and existence of the settlement was broken, and a few days later Gulliver's attorneys contacted Snay to let him know he wouldn't be getting his money after all.
Say bye to Europe, Dana, at least the weather is nice in Florida during the summer.
