A man got a repulsive "gift" for his 96th birthday—a rat's tail in his birthday cake.
The New York Post reports that Joseph Vallenti of Commack, N.Y. told his family that something "[wasn't] right" about the "Signature Series" cake that was purchased from—and baked at—King Kullen supermarket. After he began experiencing diarrhea and stomach pain, his family inspected the cake. Neil Gold, the man's nephew, found a five-inch-long rat tail and part of the rodent's rear embedded and "bleeding into" the cake.
Gold presented the gross discovery to friend and attorney Ed Yule, who's considering legal action. Meanwhile, King Kullen spokesman Lloyd Singer said that an "internal investigation" was being conducted by the store.
