2012 saw both The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers make more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office; however, to many fans, neither of those were the best comic book movie of the year. To some, that honor goes to director Alex Garland’s stylishly violent Dredd. Packed with tense action, strong characters, and a refreshing lack of snark, Dredd was the kick to the teeth that the comic book genre needed.

Unfortunately, the movie didn’t catch on at the box office, but it has since gained momentum on DVD and as a cult classic. Now Judge Dredd himself, Karl Urban, confirmed that there have been “conversations” about a potential sequel to the movie while appearing at a Star Trek convention in Germany, according to What Culture.

Lionsgate executives, Urban, and Garland have been involved in these talks, but as of now nothing is being put in motion yet. Still, the fact that talks are taking place can only be seen as a good sign.
