In a completely surprising move, Greta Gerwig has signed on to star in CBS’s upcoming spin-off of How I Met Your Mother, titled How I Met Your Dad, according to Vulture. Not only that, but she is also confirmed to produce and write for the show as well. The pilot episode of the series will film in Los Angeles, but with Gerwig on the project, it might move to New York if it goes to series.
In the show, Gerwig will play a character named Sally, who is described as "a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life." When fans meet her in the pilot, she will be nearing the end of her one-year marriage and is seeking help from her friends to get her through it.
With no characters from the original returning, the show isn’t a traditional spin-off to How I Met Your Mother, but it will be a spiritual successor with a fondness for flashbacks. Does this news actually get you excited about the show? Let us know.
