If you think the wait in between the seasons of the Game of Thrones TV series is rough to deal with, it’s nothing compared to what fans of the books have been going through. The book series’ fifth installment, A Dance with Dragons, was released in 2011, but since then, the sixth installment, The Winds of Winter, has been subject to numerous delays and rumor.

Thankfully fans now have a glimmer of hope because next month Random House will update the A Song of Ice and Fire app with an exclusive chapter from the next book. Even better, Entertainment Weekly has gotten its hand on a teaser paragraph from the release, featuring a scene with Tyrion Lannister. It’s not much, but at least it’s evidence that the book will actually see the light of day eventually:

Somewhere off in the far distance, a dying man was screaming for his mother. “To horse!” a man was yelling in Ghiscari, in the next camp to the north of the Second Sons. “To horse! To horse!” High and shrill, his voice carried a long way in the morning air, far beyond his own encampment. Tyrion knew just enough Ghiscari to understand the words, but the fear in his voice would have been plain in any tongue. I know how he feels.

Game of Thrones will return to HBO on April 6. The Winds of Winter currently has no release date set.
