"Far Cry Classic" Hits PSN, XBLA Next Week

But what engine is it running on?

None

A month after a UK listing popped up for a Far Cry HD remake, Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry Classic will be coming to the PSN and XBLA next week. Judging from the pair of official screenshots released in advance of the game's launch date (the XBLA release is a day later), it appears as though Far Cry Classic isn't as much of an HD remake of CryEngine's original 2004 Far Cry as it a facelifted port of a game from 2004 – this is definitely not going to be looker like Far Cry 3 is, but that makes sense given its age.

Era aside, if you want to see how the origins of Far Cry on console, now you have a way to do so. Far Cry Classic will be available on PSN and XBLA on February 11 and 12, respectively, for $10. All things considering, that's not a bad deal, especially given the revamped cutscenes and overhauled UI Ubisoft is promising.
