Reports of falling ice from 1 World Trade Center have caused panic and created an early morning nightmare for commuters at the 1 World Trade Center PATH station in New York City

According to Gothamist, the Port Authorityannounced that the entrance to World Trade Center had been closed "temporarily" because of falling ice. The agency added that passengers were being redirected to the WTC West Concourse.

Just after 9 p.m., PATH issued a statement on its website saying that service to the station had been suspended: "Due to a falling ice condition at the Exchange Place and World Trade Center Stations, these stations are temporarily closed."

At 9:29 a.m., a PATH update revealed that both the Exchange Place and World Trade Center Stations had been reopened.

We will update this situation here as it develops.
