Ever wonder how electronic music was made 30 years ago? No? Well, we’ll show you anyway.
In today’s age, with programs like Logic, Pro Tools and Garage Band, almost anyone can create music without having any prior programming experience. However, Diode Milliampere shows us how to make sick electro-music using MS-DOS (short for Microsoft Disk Operating System). This operating system was the most commonly used for IBM and their computers during the 1980s and early 90s. In the video above, Diode walks us through his command line inputting, using his Adlib Tracker II software. His brief description on his Soundcloud page describes it as such:
“I use Adlib Tracker II, and MS-DOS program which sequences the Yamaha OPL3 chip. My earlier music was created with Ableton Operator and there are some LSDJ songs in there.”
