I have a confession. When I play Grand Theft Auto V anymore I'm really just attempting to simulate the pedestrian slaughter-joy of Carmageddon. The original Carmageddon was one of the bloodiest and most stand-out alternative racing games, the reboot Carmageddon: Reincarnation looks to up the ante with “rivers of livers.”

Check out the smash-up tech demo above for a glimpse of the humor and just a smattering of blood. The game is set to release on Steam Early Access on March 27 for $30 but if you already got in on the Kickstarter for the project you'll get access two weeks earlier.

"It's brilliant to see our demonic baby rise screaming from the grave. This time we could finally do the stuff that we wanted to do 17 years ago," said Patrick Buckland, co-founder of the developer, Stainless Games.

“More blood was the main thing. Rivers of livers – that's what we wanted.”

If you never had the joy to play the original or the Grand Theft Auto mod, you've really been missing out. Check out a video of the original bloody mayhem below.
