"Candy Crush" Makers Change Their Mind About Copyrighting the Word Candy

Soooo the Internet outrage was good for something.

Remember how King was dead set on copyrighting the word 'candy' in order to protect their trademark?

Yeah, about that. After the shitstorm of negative press that came down upon the heads of King after their attempted trademarking of a wide and commonly used word, the company seems to be withdrawing their trademark application for the word 'candy' in the United States.

This is according to new documents King has filed with the U.S. Trademark Office as of yesterday. King was the center of Internet wide scorn after they're attempted trademark filing of both the word 'candy' and shortly afterward the word 'saga'.

The European trademark filing for on behalf of Kings has not been abandoned as of today.
