Ubisoft announced today that the Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry DLC featuring first mate Adewale of the Jackdaw will get his own stand-alone game exclusively for PlayStation 3, 4 and PC.

PlayStation users can pick up the stand-alone for $14.99 on February 18 in the PlayStation store while PC users will be able to grab Adewale's tale on February 25. Both will not require the purchase of the full Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

“We decided to release Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry as a stand-alone game for both fans and newcomers to the Assassin’s Creed universe,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry delivers key elements of an Assassin’s Creed game, including a new hero, new environments and new weapons.”

Freedom Cry follows the story of Adwale, a man born a slave who after the incidents inBlack Flag, finds himself shipwrecked in 18th-centery Haiti. In an effort to get off the cruel island he must assist the local escaped slave community in exchange for ships and crew but inevitably get's pulled into the larger battle of slave vs. master delivering some brutal (check the video above) justice to those slave owners of the Caribbean.
