What could come to the surprise of smartphone users in America, there are currently 24 countries where Windows Phone is outselling Apple's iPhone—and it’s not even close. This month, Microsoft examined a collection of countries to determine the exact areas where Windows Phone was beating the iPhone. Here is the list of countries:
Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Ecuador, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
According to IDC, an independent market analyst, Microsoft only led iPhone sales in seven countries in 2012. However, sales are up 156 percent over the last year, triple Android’s annual growth and more than six times that of iOS. Some are arguing that Windows Phone is gaining in markets where the iPhone is making little headway. But, according to a release ffom research group Kanter this past December, Europe is gravitating towards Android more than iOS. As of now, iOS market share fell 5 percent over the last year to 15 percent, while Windows has jumped from 4.8 percent to 10.2 percent. Unsurprisingly, the only two nations where iOS is dominant are the United States and Japan.
